CJ’s History
CJ’s was originally founded back in 1976. It all began in a converted Texaco station seating thirty two people. Originally started by Dick Nelson, longtime partner Dave Holland joined CJ’s in 1978 where he met his wife Tammy, and they have been together at CJ’s ever since. In 2006, CJ’s expanded to its present location and added a new partner, Tom Pelatt. The strong, family oriented traditions of great food and a warm welcome continue today.
The Wood Fired Grill
Until moving to a larger location north of Rimrock Mall, our menu focused primarily on smoked ribs, chicken, beef roasts and pork roasts cooked over local apple wood. Once relocated in 2006, a wood fired grill was added. We then became the first restaurant in Montana to import mesquite wood from Texas. Wood fired steaks and seafood were then added to the expanding menu. Our "skin on fries", BBQ sauce and Readers Choice Award ribs have been favorites for over thirty years.
